My Story

Being a professional swimmer is a privilege I never take for granted. The ocean is where I do my best thinking, my hardest work, and my most meaningful racing. It’s unpredictable, demanding, and honest — and that’s exactly why I love it. Representing Australia on the international stage is something I’m deeply proud of, and the journey so far has been anything but ordinary.

THE EARLY YEARS

I grew up around the water, and from the start, swimming felt natural. Not because it was easy, but because I loved the challenge. I was competitive, curious, and always keen to see how far I could push myself.

Like many young athletes, I tried different sports along the way, but the discipline and simplicity of swimming kept pulling me back. There was something about training day after day, chasing small improvements, that clicked.

THE CALL TO OPEN WATER

It was in the ocean that I truly found my calling as a swimmer. Living on Queensland's Sunshine Coast meant I had the world's best beaches on my doorstep, and my Dad was quick to throw me and my sister into surf lifesaving as nippers. The smallest kid on the start line at surf carnivals, I was never the most talented, or the one with the most potential, but I probably loved it the most. I learned early that progress doesn’t come from shortcuts. It comes from consistency, never giving up, and throwing your all at something you genuinely love to do.

The next part of my journey into open water marathon swimming was a natural evolution. The freedom, the tactics, the raw nature of racing in the ocean, it felt like where I belonged. Unlike the pool, nothing is controlled. Conditions change, plans unravel, and the ability to adapt the body and the mind is your superpower.

That challenge lit a fire. From national titles to international racing, I earned my place among Australia’s best and went on to represent my country as an Australian Dolphin. Competing at the highest level has shaped me not just as an athlete, but as a person.

THE LONG GAME

Elite sport is never a straight line. Over the years, I’ve experienced the full spectrum of breakthroughs and setbacks - wins that validated the work, and losses that built resilience. Each experience has added a layer to the athlete I've ultimately become.

What keeps it meaningful is connection. These days, I race for more than just results. I race for family and friends watching from home, supporters on the shoreline, and young swimmers chasing their own goals. That shared journey is what makes the hard days worth it.

LOOKING AHEAD

My focus remains on competing at the highest level and continuing to push my limits in open water swimming.

At the same time, sharing knowledge, experiences, and lessons from my journey in elite sport is something I'm motivated to do. Whether through clinics, mentoring, or community involvement, my goal is simple: to connect, inspire, and help others chase excellence - in sport and in life.
